Charles Anderson resigns after struggling to meet fundraising goals; he’ll head to national headquarters as a consultant. Charles W. Anderson, CEO of the United Way of the National Capital Area, announced Aug. 12 that he would resign from the leadership almost immediately. Anderson, 55, who has led the group since 2003, plans to leave the regional group Aug. 18 and join the national United Way of America staff in Arlington, Va., as a senior consultant in charge of redesigning the organization's field systems.
